The 1965 Sweet Adelines Queens of Harmony had a lasting impact on women's barbershop - indeed, all barbershop, as tenor Ruby Rhea has become a much sought-after arranger. This chock-full recording, digitally remastered by Larry Wright, overflows with the ensembles big sound - wow. From their chord busting, impeccably tuned tags to their subtle ballads, the Shalimars impress with their outstanding vocal production and musicality. In addition to barbershop tunes like "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" and "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine," their repertoire includes show tunes such as "Sunrise, Sunset" and a "Sound of Music" medley. Special features include "Lida Rose/Dream of Now" with the Sidewinders, and two tracks by the "Baker's Dozen," an ensemble organized by Val Hicks which also included Disneyland's Dapper Dans, the GalaLads (1962 SPEBS champs) and Burt Staffen - very dense jazz on "Misty" and snappy "This Could Be The Start Of Something Big."
