This recording is all a cappella, and features the sacred music of Tallis and Byrd. The Singers are exploring some different sounds on this album. All of the beauty of the past is there, but they have added a brighter tone on the loud, jubilant climaxes which makes one think of a brass choir. The overtones in the Renaissance harmony created by the soprano and alto countertenors show us the musical magic the composers of this period knew so well. (52:45 1995)
