Britain has produced many wonderful songwriters. This album features early 20th Century songs, many set to poetry by the likes of Shakespeare, Yeats, Colridge, Shelley and Tennyson. These songs have been arranged for the group by two members (Jonathan Rathbone and Mark Williams), who are truly exceptional at their craft. They give a very modern, jazzy interpretation to songs such as "The Salley Gardens," "Rest, Sweet Nymphs," "Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal" and many more (24 in all). Enjoyable the first time, with depth that unfolds each time you listen. (48:04 1994)
