Swingle Singers, The: Screen Tested

We really enjoyed listening to this release of movie music. It takes a group as talented as the Swingle Singers to tackle an all-vocal rendition of some of these complex orchestral pieces, such as the cool, rhythmically tricky "Mission Impossible" and the dramatic theme from 2001, "Also Sprach Zarathustra." Five of the songs are a tribute to great film composers: Ennio Morricone "Cinema Paradiso," "The Mission", John Williams ("Star Wars," Schindler's List") and Henry Mancini ("Moon River"). Then there are some nicely crafted medleys from favorite musicals that have been performed on the silver screen - a 12-and-a-half-minute overture-size collection of four songs from "My Fair Lady;" three of the best-known tunes from "Fiddler on the Roof;" and three from "The King and I." The 13 cuts conclude with the "James Bond Medley," which fits like a glove on this fine British ensemble. Good show!
