The summer convocations that were the Robert Shaw Festival Singers weremagical, as this stunning CD attests. Newly released here are four Renaissance pieces including Tallis' "If ye love me" and Victoria's "O Magnum Mysterium." The latter is but the first of three settings of one of Shaw's favorite texts. His interpretation of Lauridsen's setting is stunning, different still from the austere setting by Poulenc. Magnificent! (56:52 - 2000)
