This CD re-release of recordings from 1958 and 1961 includes 16 Stephen Foster songs (complete in their pre-politically correct original form), such as "Ring De Banjo," gorgeous "Beautiful Dreamer," classic "My Old Kentucky Home," "Oh Susanna" and "Old Folks At Home." Also included are four spirituals such as "Steal Away." About half a cappella (the rest are lightly accompanied), the stylized and somewhat stiff delivery is interesting historical material but overall anachronistic. (59:17 1993)
