Chanticleer's spirituals are better than one would expect from a classically trained chorus. The spirit is there, and the vocal power is at times overwhelming, but to this listener, it still sounds like a world class glee club out of their milieu. The church acoustics, wonderful for the ensemble, tend to mute the soloists. Includes "Old Time Religion," "Deep River," a lovely "Steal Away," and "AllNight, All Day." (57:29 1994)
