The 40 - 50 member Debrecen Kodály Chorus was founded in 1953 in Hungary. This is the chorus' second recording in a definitive series. Vol. 2 represents Kodaly's choral works for the period 1937 - 1947. The pieces are nearly all performed in Hungarian, with "Cohors generosa" and "Advent Song" being sung in Latin. The choir is conducted by Peter Erdei, who is director-general of the Zoltán Kodály Music Pedagogical Institute. This CD and Vol. 1 belong in the music library of every collector of Kodály and all others who appreciate fine classical compositions and choral music. (73:49 2005)
