Stockholm's Hägersten Motet Choir tackles Poulenc's "Un soir de neige (Night of Snow)" and "Quatre motets pour le temps de Noël (Four Motets for Christmastide)" as well as Anton Bruckner's "Locus Iste," "Ave Maria" and "Mass No.2 in E minor" on this 1992 recording. Directed by Ingemar Månsson, the choir is world-renowned for its performances of works of the masters as well as those of contemporary composers like choir member and Swedish choral master Sven-David Sandström. The contrast between the two composers, Poulenc and Bruckner, is highlighted nicely here - Poulenc's observations of nature and man's condition, Bruckner's almost zealous dedication to God, both evident in the pieces presented here. A masterful performance of these composer's works. (68:38 1992)
