The repertoire here is very challenging, including works by Penderecki (the atonal "Stabat Mater"), Bach's "Der Geist hilft unsrer Schwachhieit auf," and György Orbán's eery "Daemon Irrepit Callidus." The choir paints beautiful pictures with their smooth, luxurious sound in Eric Whitacre's "Water Night,"; crisp rhythm and diction on Kenneth Jennings' "Noel: Christmas Eve," evokes an evening ride over frosty fields. The disc begins and ends with traditional pieces "God is Here" and Moses Hogan's "My Soul's Been Anchored in the Lord." Some orchestral and light accompaniment. (72:06 2001)
