The Choral Project has released its latest album in furtherance of the project's stated vision of "healing the world through music and words," - a tall order, but one which the group has nobly tackled in this fine CD. The 'word' portion of their strategy involves the use of some of the world's most wonderful poetry beginning with "five Hebrew love songs" by Hila Pitmann, set to music by Eric Whitacre. Other poets with powerful language enhanced with music from some of our finest composers include Octavio Paz, Charles Anthony Silvestri, Thomas S. Jones, Sara Teasdale, James Joyce and e.e. cummings. Are poets' and composers' pens mightier than the sword? Though the answer isn't conclusive, we can fill our souls with hope from such beautiful presentations as this one offered by The Choral Project.(69:49 2003)
