The Amabile Boys Choirs program in Southwestern Ontario, Canada has been growing, and growing better, since its 1990 founding. This recording is the first to feature their Primus ensemble, inspired by the King's Singers and Cantus. They tackle tougher repertoire on six tracks, including the title-inspiring piece, "Horizons" by Peter Lous van Dijk (which includes all sorts of body sounds - sighs, claps and snaps, percussive sounds - along with soaring harmonies). Two other ensembles contribute as well - the young Treble Concert Choir (all accompanied, as on "We Will Sing For Joy") and the older Tenor/Bass Ensemble (Chesnokov's a cappella "Spaséñiye sodélal" and accompanied "The Last Words of David" by Randall Thompson). These boys are a fine example of the musical excellence possible when standards are set high - bravo! (73:43 2003)
