The Amabile Youth Singers is an auditioned choir of 50 singers ranging in age from 12 to 23. This group has enjoyed a fairly prolonged relationship with Canadian composer, Stephen Hatfield. As a result, Hatfield composed many pieces specifically for this talented group from London, Ontario. This album is a compilation of many of these pieces. Though the styles are wide ranging, this choir tackles every piece with aplomb and the resulting album is quite enjoyable. Notables include the Field holler "Run Children, Run," the fascinating "Three Ways To Vacuum Your House," a three-movement piece inspired by Hatfield's habit of singing to himself while vacuuming, and the hauntingly beautiful English folk song "Queen Jane." The wide range of styles will leave listeners spellbound.(70:56 1997)
