They say that too many cooks spoil the stew, but the Male Ensemble Northwest belies this - a chorus composed of twelve active choral conductors is possibly one of a kind. But these gentlemen are not only exceptionally talented as conductors and music educators, among them are arrangers, instrumental musicians and composers. We're very lucky because these skills have been used to maximum benefit in this Christmas presentation. Over half of the 19 pieces were arranged by members of the chorus, the instrumentalists include five of the members, and words and music on several pieces are the work of member Vijay Singh. The recording of the Spanish carol and lullaby A La Nanita Nana is surely one of the sweetest available. Other special treats include the sprightly and surprising Deck the Halls and especially moving What Child is This? MEN has prepared a very nice package for us indeed!
