This men's ensemble pays tribute to its homeland's musical traditions on this collection of Canadian (and one not-so-Canadian) folk songs. Including a cappella as well as a couple of accompanied pieces from Acadian hymns based on 9th Century chant ("Ave Maris Stella") to Allister MacGillivary's classics "Away From the Roll of the Sea," and "Song for the Mira" (both accompanied by piano and oboe) to Gaelic music from Cape Breton ("Chi mi na more bheanna") and "cowboy" classic "Red River Valley" (with harmonica and piano accompaniment) - this one has something for everyone. Stalwart fishermen songs by Canadian treasure Stan Rogers ("Fogarty's Cove," "Northwest Passage," "Barrett's Privateers," "Make and Break Harbor") are side-by-side with Quebec call-and-answer song "Dondaine la Ridaine" and traditional sea shanty "Drunken Sailor."
