Other than the three final pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach on this recording, the pieces here were composed by 16th century composers. Were those simpler times when one could be transported to a state of contemplation and joy purely through music of praise such as this? Fortunately, the Concordia Choir is able to take us to this place, even in the chaotic 21st century, by means of their clarity of voice, soaring harmonics and depth of sound. The beautiful cover of this CD must be mentioned - its whimsical modern look, though in contrast to the period music within, conveys the recording's simplicity and joy of life. Your heart shall rejoice!
