It is rare that one conductor shapes the greater part of a choir's history. In a career that has spanned 50 years, Paul J. Christiansen basically ushered the development of the Concordia Choir at Moorehead, MN. Never given to lackadaisical performance, Christiansen worked diligently to achieve perfection in a cappella singing rarely found in a group of this size. In his honor, this album was compiled, taking the best pieces from many recordings and creating a loving commemoration. It has more than sentimental value; taking the best recordings from their history allowed them to create an album that nears perfection. Some of the more memorable moments are the "Pilgrim's Chorus" from Tannhauser, "Tristus Est Anima Mea," and the "Allegro" from Psalm 50. (135:35 1993)
