5 Alone is an award-winning high school (yes, high school!) vocal jazz group, formed in 1999 by Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (Massachusetts) jazz music director Tony Lechner. With himself as the fifth member, they started rehearsing during lunch and after school, and debuted in 2000 at the Iron Horse Lounge. Since that time, they have garnered recognition and accolades, earning spots on the BOHSA (Best of High School A Cappella) 2005 album, and other awards, from the likes of Downbeat Magazine and CASA (the Contemporary A Cappella Society). This group of talented students are all-around great musicians - age notwithstanding. Check 'em out! (37:03 2005)
