Kantorei: Small Blue Marble (CD)

On this, their fifth album, Kantorei explores the wonderfully diverse world of choral music, featuring pieces from cultures far and near, hence the "small, blue marble" reference in the title (the 'marble' being our ever-shrinking world). With the proliferation of technology and increasing communication between people in the far-flung reaches of the globe, becoming aware of other cultures is necessary and, indeed, inevitable. This CD celebrates music from many different lands.

Nigeria ("Betelehemu")
Spain ("Cuncti Simus")
Estonia ("Autumn Landscapes")
Germany ("Kein Feuer")
Thailand ("Ngam Sang Duan")
and many more!

The US is in there as well, with a great rendition of the classic spiritual "This Little Light of Mine" as arranged by Moses Hogan. The liner notes are a very nice addition to the album, with a world map denoting the origin of each piece, as well as a full listing of lyrics and translations.
