Conspirare is a professional mixed choir based in Austin, Texas. The singers in the group come from around the country, though, all drawn to the group's singular task - to create quality choral music, melding both traditional and contemporary styles into their own signature sound. Conductor Craig Hella Johnson is esteemed in his own right, having attended St. Olaf College, Julliard and Yale, and has served in the past as artistic director of Chanticleer (for the 1998 season), the Houston Masterworks Chorale and the Victoria Bach Festival. The award-winning choir itself infuses their performances with "passion, sensitivity and playfulness." (www.conspirare.org) This double CD set is their second release on the Clarion label. Their debut CD, "through the green fuse" is also available.
