This 18-member mixed voice ensemble from New York is just delightful on this 2003 holiday release. They approach each song with a tenderness that is tangible ("Lullaby My Jesus" is sweetness personified) on this collection of mostly contemporary Christmas pieces. Gabrieli's polyphonic "Hodie Christus natus est" and "O Magnum Mysterium" are both well done, with good energy and great tuning. contemporary "Three Mystical Carols" by Conrad Susa (with some organ accopaniment) are performed with beautiful tonal clarity. Arrangements by Ned Rorem, John Rutter, Anthony Piccolo, Elizabeth Maconchy and Albert Tepper round out this intelligent and enjoyable recording. (50:15 2003)
