Words and music by Robert Lowry; arranged by Wayland Rogers for SATB a cappella (with some divisi in the bass line). This version restores the original third verse to this popular folk anthem (as opposed to the one made popular by Pete Seeger in the 1970s). The first verse is presented in a simple harmonization. Then each succeeding verse offers a variation on the melody, with small interludes serving as transitions between verses. The third verse, with its transcendental vision, modulates to a bright key of B major. (Excerpts taken from the inside cover.)
