This book and CD combo is a collection of 21 original jazz etudes by composer Jim Snidero. The book has notation for the solo lines only, with scat syllables included for a few of the pieces. The CD includes a rhythm section track on one channel and a vocal track on the other, so as the singer gets more familiar with the material, he or she can turn off the vocalist and sing on their own. The recorded examples give great suggestions for phrasing and articulation, as well as familiarize the singer with the sounds and chord progressions in jazz and blues songs. A good tool for someone just beginning to approach scat singing in the jazz style. (48 pp. w/CD).
