An inspiring setting for mixed SSAATB choir with piano accompaniment of text adapted from prose by American naturalist John Muir (1838 - 1914). The piece celebrates the love of nature, particularly the "tremendous storm song of the rocks in the heart of the mountain," which "is our song, our very own, and sings our love." Commissioned by Gilda's Club and the Seattle Composers Alliance for the Combined Choirs of St. Joseph'School, Seattle, who premiered the work at Benaroya Hall in May 2004. The ranges are suitable for a high school choir, or combined high school and middle school choirs. (Duration: 6 minutes)
