This 1998 release emphasizes the Dutch quintet's classical roots, butincludes for the first time some lighter close harmony pieces whichtraditionally close their live performances. The CD opens with sixRenaissance pieces written (in French) by Dutch composer Sweelnick ("Tesbeaux yeux") for wealthy patrons. Then follow more modern works byDebussy (two from "Trois Chansons"), five Petites Voix written by Poulencfor children ("Le chien perdu" - the lost dog) and the eight song cycle"Sacred & Profane" by Britten, composed less than a year before his death.They close with arrangements by Puerling ("My Romance"), Kirby Shaw("Ain't Misbehavin'"), and a great arrangement of "Besame Mucho."
