This stunning a cappella arrangement of the classic carol opens with the voices ad libbing cluster chords to imitate the chiming of church bells. A soprano soloist introduces the traditional melody and then both women's and men's sections are given verse and chorus with which to show off their individual blending and tuning abilities in four part harmony. Coventry Carol contains much dissonance in the form of chord clusters as well as tight harmonies. A great showpiece for your a cappella choir! (Description taken from the publisher's web site.)

"This piece is written for SSATB (with divisi) and optional handbells. Written in a style influenced by Arvo Part and John Tavener, this piece is quite accessible to advanced High School, Church, and College Choirs. It can be performed with a chamber-sized ensemble, or larger choir, and features both a soprano soloist and the male and female sections by themselves. Don't be frightened by the mixed meter/improvisational opening section. It's easier than it looks and is meant to sound like tolling bells. The piece is even good without performing this opening sequence as written or at all! Your choirs are sure to enjoy performing this beautiful setting of this famous carol."
