"Heaven Somewhere, a high energy gospel number known by many names, was championed by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who scandalized the gospel singers of her day by mixing the secular swing style into a sacred genre. In keeping with Sister Rosetta Tharpe's stylistic blend, this arrangement has a funky doo-wop flavored middle section that reminds us just how many different rock styles go back to the gospel source.
A swinging groove is essential. In the opening verses, the tenors should create a very high-blood-sugar, extroverted personality in contrast to the laid-back baritones, who play the leather padded recliner to the tenors' rocking chair. But even the laid-back personality must be charged with rhythmic vitality."
