Two Motets On Texts by Metaphysical Poets

Two Motets (On Texts by Metaphysical Poets) Daniel Gawthrop (SATB)
Be the first to review this product
The two poets whose texts are used here, George Herbert and John Donne, have long been among the most popular of that group known as the "metaphysical poets," a label which seems to have originated with Dr. Johnson's essay on Cowley. These settings of "King of Glorie," "King of Peace" and "In What Torn Ship" both partake of Daniel E. Gawthrop's typically lush harmonic language and easy, natural voice leading.
Suitability: worship or concert Difficulty: moderate Description taken from the publisher's web site.
