This short-but-sweet treatment of the traditional American folk song is truly a gem. It packs a lot into the mere 6 pages of music included here. A simple tenor solo statement of the melody opens the piece, followed by a lovely homophonic re-statement by the full choir. The B section, though, is full of gorgeous, swelling, legato, eighth-note runs in the background, with the tenors and basses taking turns on the melody. Lots of great dynamics, some divisi in all parts. A nice interesting addition to any folk music program. Part of the Gentry Publications series, distributed by Hal Leonard.
