Though many groups claim to stay current, Stormy Weather achieves it over and over. Though they are mainly a doo-wop group, they continue to experiment and try new things, often with successful results. On this effort, they singgreat old tunes like "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Pennies From Heaven," and then turn around and do a great pop song like "Ooh Child" - successfully. What is even more impressive is the effort made by the group to update theirarrangements, and there is much more of a pop presence on this album. This kind of juxtaposition takes a little away from the continuity, but for the most part it comes across well. The highlight is without a doubt "Daddy's Home," featuring the great Gene Chandler. This is a very enjoyable album. (37:11 2000)
