This terrific arrangement of the great jazz standard opens as a rubato ballad, then solo alternating with choral sections building to a double-time vocal scat solo. After the solos, then vocals build to a dramatic and strong ending climax. Rhythm section sold separately (rhythm parts include only chord changes) . br> Round Midnight: arr. "This arrangement by Darmon Meader is absolutely perfect. There is nothing about this arrangement I do not like. I heard this arrangement sung by the New York Voices on a CD, and I instantly fell in love with it! It has a ton of variety in it. It starts out with a piano solo, and then the vocalists come in with this gorgeous a cappella rubato part with amazingly tight harmony. Then the combo comes in with a baritone soloist. It speeds up and slows down all the time. Then, there's this improv section. On the New York Voices recording, the tenor just goes on and on and on scatting like crazy! Then there's this part where the entire vocal ensemble scats in harmony. Then there's a slow rubato part with the soloists again. That all builds up to the ending, which is in my opinion the best part of the entire song. The first soprano gets to improv while the rest of the ensemble scats in harmony. On the New York Voices recording, she hits notes higher and clearer than I've ever heard anyone hit! During this ending, the drummer is also doing these amazing fills and going crazy!
I highly recommend that you buy this masterpiece. I give it a full five stars. By the way, if you do buy this sheet music and perform it, I would like to know when and where you are performing it. I am obsessed with that song and never get tired of hearing it."
