With their return to the musical roots of African-American religious music, Sweet Honey permeates this album with a reverence that reverberates through every song. They also draw upon harmonic convergence much more than in many earlier recordings, which were often journeys in divergent musical textures. The reverent harmony is wonderful and powerful.
