This spectacular album takes the experienced singers and eclectic sound of Sweet Honey to a new level! The first to be produced by Dr. Ysaye Barnwell, the recording uses subtle studio techniques (and selective percussion) to create an extraordinarily rich sonic texture. The simple melody and lyric of "We Are The Ones We've Been Waiting For " grows into a complex vocal painting. The group is exceptionally tight and the soloist intensely passionate on spiritual "Motherless Chil'." As usual the songs address important issues: domestic violence in percussion-rich "Run," environmental violence in "Battered Earth," the increasing prevalence of "Greed."
