"Their power and energy is exotic and exhilarating!" One cannot better describe the sound produced by Kitka, a truly international group of women singing out of Oakland, California. This is a perfect showcase of their talent for recreating the sounds of Eastern Europe. With lovely tuning and great rhythm, they conjure up sounds from places that disappeared long ago. Highlights include the highly rhythmic "Moma Bega Prez Livade," "Bratets Kosi" and "Predite Prelye," both traditional Croatian songs, and "Son Mi Doyde," beautifully arranged by Nikolai Kaufman. (57:19 1992)
