Showvinistics, The My Heart (CD)

This doo-wop quintet hails from Rochester. Their current cast of singers has been together for 15 years. "My Heart" is their second album. Doo-wop master, Johnny Maestro, says of the group: "...we have done many concerts with them and their acappella performances of the old group classics of the 1950's and 1960's are excellent; not only with the hits, but with some of the more obscure street corner classics to which they give their own distinctive style, truly capturing the great feel of the original era." Several of the tracks are instrumentally accompanied. Among the many highlights are the "pealing" opening to the wonderfullly performed "Tell Me Why,", the very strong "Runaway," and "Tonight," with its full array of all that is Doo-wop. An example of the more obscure songs that they make their own as Johnny Maestro referred to is "Over the Summer," with that feel we all (well, some of us) recall from the summers of our youth! (35:15 2005)
