Gel Caps, The Take Two

This collection of doo-wop classics (and some suprises) comes to us from in and around Jackson, Michigan. They put their well-tuned and unhurried stamp on favorites like "Morse Code of Love" and "Under the Boardwalk," but retain a nice sense of individuality on pleasant surprises like their covers of the Beatles' "Let it Be" and "Zombie Jamboree" (a la Rockapella). Stand-outs include the opening "Never Let You Go" with a killer bass riff, a different harmonic twist on "Louie, Louie" and a sweet "1000 Miles Away."
