Taken from his African Sanctus mass, the "Kyrie: Call to Prayer" is meant to be performed simultaneously with a recording that Fanshawe has made of live music that he encountered while travelling up the Nile through Egypt, Sudan, Uganda and Kenya (not included with this sheet music). The mass integrates traditional African music with some Eastern-influenced harmonies, making for a true multi-cultural experience for your choir. The second piece, "Kyrie (A Cappella)" is the vocal parts alone, with no taped accompaniment indicated. A challenging, expressive piece of music.
