Simply by glancing at the title of the album - "Favourites," with the extra 'u' present in much of the Queen's English - I was reminded that with this album, I was getting something global. That, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo ARE favourites around the globe for a reason: They are amazing! Even without speaking the languages they sing in, the evocative, powerful nature of their music is evident. The opening "Inkanyezi Nezazi" (The Star and the Wiseman) is a rhythmic delight that will get your shoulders swaying. Many of the tracks are of a gospel bent (including "Ebethlehema Yiyo Lenkosi" (In Bethlehem, He Is King), and "Lifikile Ivangeli" (The Gospel Has Arrived), but the beauty of the singing transcends sectarian boundaries.
