The Banana Blenders, an 80-man group from Queensland, became Australia's first-ever chorus competitor at the '99 SPEB International in Anaheim. Their rich, smooth tone is warmly recorded. Of special note is the beautiful (but uncredited) bass solo on "Oh Shenandoah," four fine Oz patriotic anthems ("Along the Road to Gundagai," "Advance Australia Fair," "My Country" and "I Still Call Australia Home"), and show tunes "On A Wonderful Day" and "Can't Help Lovin' that Gal." Four quartets contribute songs and the CD closes on a jazzy note with the Banana Blenders' "I'll Be Seeing You" and the Surf City Sound mixed quartet's tasty "Tears In Our Eyes" - a Four Freshmen tune.
