The 1977 International champions were actually a quintet, with guys switching parts as needed, until a year before they won (four of the five had placed seventh in '76). After winning with the oldest singer to get a gold (bass Ken Hawkinson was 59), they performed for a decade before Ken retired, and his spot was filled by two other memorable singers. The full sound of the quartet has that old-time resonance, on tunes like "Slippery Sal," amusing "Frog Kissin'," beautiful ballad "Alice Blue Gown" and lilting "Head Over Heels In Love With Sweet Adeline."
