On this, their debut CD, the eight Chicago professional singers who make up An Octave Above demonstrate their versatility and highly competent handling of material ranging from doo-wop (a neat "Come Go With Me") and jazz ("Scat Blues" with a wonderful, horn-like sound) to standards ("There Will Never Be Another You" with its scat-like treatment) and even traditional songs (Swingle's "Country Dances"). Obviously inspired by The Real Group, The Swingle Singers, The Manhattan Transfer and the New York Voices, many of the 13 songs on this disc are arranged by famous names in cappella arranging, including Ward Swingle, Ed Lojeski, Kirby Shaw and Bob Chilcott. After only three years together, the group was the first runner-up at the Chicago Regional Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival in March, 2005. This is a CD you will want to listen to over and over again! (40:26)

"This is a great compilation of A Cappella music on one CD. I enjoy the contrasting genres as well as the musicality of the performers. Thoroughly enjoyable!"
