On first listen, you may find yourself checking the liner notes again to make sure that yes, you DID just purchase a high school recording, because - it's THAT good, folks! Besides the extremely talented and mature-sounding voices you hear, you'll also hear some arrangements that sound like they come off one of the BOCA (Best of COLLEGE A Cappella) CDs, and opening track "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is, in fact, an arrangement that did appear on a BOCA in the past (BOCA 2001, sung by the SoCal VoCals).

Other highlights: Dryden High's Beyondmeasure's version of the Black-Eyed Peas' "Where is the Love" belongs on the radio; a cappella wunderkind Robert Dietz (check out the "Modern A Cappella" songbook he co-arranged with Deke Sharon) shines in a gorgeous lead on "Superman" - yes, ladies, he's only in high school. The more classically-oriented pieces are beautifully done - "Domine" by the Honors Choir of Southeast Minnesota (a third-time appearance by this group), "Cry Out and Shout" by Ann Arbor's A Cappella Choir both resonate with power. "Battle of Jericho" by the Cherry Hill West High School Singers just jumps off the disc. Jazz gets a turn too, as 5-Along nails "I'm With You," and Vocal Infinity croons "Moon River."

This disc is a compilation in the truest sense of the word. It brings together styles, group configurations (small/big, male/female/mixed), and geographic variety into one tasty little package. (64:40 2006)

"I have been listening to BOHSA since the "Class Notes" album of 1998, and this one is by far the best I've seen yet. I was very impressed with the sound quality of each group on the album. Congrats to all of the groups on the CD, especially my home boys the YORKIES!"
