A totally gospel album may be a bit of a surprise for The Idea of North fans, but having included a bit of gospel music in their concerts and on their albums in the past, the group, known primarily as a jazz group, has brought out this CD in answer to many requests to record a gospel album. Another surprise is that, in contrast to their reputation as a cappella performers, several of the tunes on this release are accompanied by piano, organ, bass and drums. But never fear, their a cappella touch is still very much present and their jazzy attitude is well-represented. All of the songs have been arranged by members of the group, and the Bonus Track, "The Unfortuante Tale of a Country Chicken," was written, words and music, and arranged by, Andrew Piper. So, the CD may be a bit of a surprise, but a very pleasant and welcome one! ((46:10 2006)
