Northern Harmony: Georgian Folk Songs (Bk/CD)
A wonderful collection of folk songs from the Republic of Georgia,compiled and edited by Northern Harmony's Patty Cuyler. The book includes notation in three voices for 10 traditional songs. In listening to the accompanying CD, it appears that the upper voices are scored to be sung an octave lower than written. The CD is a big help as well, with clear, slow pronunciation of the texts followed by actual performances of the songs by teens in the Northern and Village Harmony programs. A very good resource for anyone wanting to explore this rich choral tradition. (Scored for mixed voices).
