The liner notes for this CD explain that the Amidons have been involved with harmony singing for over 30 years. These twenty-five 4-part arrangements come from the couple's experience in singing at folk camps, festivals, Sacred Harp sings, church choirs and other group singing activities. The recording is thoroughly American in its song selections, despite the multi-cultural background of several of the pieces. The entire album is delightful with some fine honest and unvarnished voices, but some of the highlights for me include the solo in "I Will Guide Thee", the very lovely lullaby-like "To Bethlehem," and the sweet emotion conveyed in "Here is My Home." Several of the pieces are lightly accompanied by piano; it should be noted that Peter and/or Mary Alice Amidon are credited with all the CD's arrangements.(1:12:04 2005)
