The Persuasions, the godfathers of a cappella, pay homage to the past. Using a myriad of sources, the group has created a mixwhich is at once traditional and contemporary. Leading with classics such as "Building a Home" and "Life is a Ballgame," thegroup moves into a medley of Brook Benton songs such as "The Same One" and "It's Just a Matter of Time." Jerry Lawson'slead on the title song, "Let's Get Married/Sincerely," is a perfect fit for the McGuire Sisters 1955 hit. Raucous numbers "Who Stole the Chicken"and the Clovers' "Drive It Home" round out the set. All this with, as they say, "nothing but the human voice." (41:14 1996)
