From the publisher:
Set to a 9th century Japanese poem, composer Jackson Hill uses traditional musical stylistic devices from the same culture to create a seamless, unaccompanied choral work.
From the inside cover:
"Voices of Autumn," composed in 1982, was premiered in 1985 by the Bowdoin College Choir at its annual contemporary choral music festival. A subsequent version of the work for four solo voices was premiered in 1994 in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam by England's Hilliard Ensemble. The choral version of "Voices of Autumn" was recorded by Chanticleer on the album "Our American Journey," which received a Grammy nomination in 2003-2004.
