As close to a live Persuasions concert as you can get without the crowd, this recording was made directly to a pair of stereo microphones. The passionately soulful sound of The Persuasions is a perfect match for "Oh! Darling" - wow! It's a reminder that Jerry Lawson's lead is one of the key reasons we're fans. Equally amazing is their minimalist arrangement of "Come Together" with just enough instrument insinuation to make it work. They mix standards ("Yesterday") with some surprising song choices. Their interpretation of "The Ballad of John and Yoko" almost makes you think it was originally a '50s tune, while their gospel flavor is just right for "Rocky Raccoon." (49:25 2002)
