Onward and upward! When the Northern Lights' last recording was completed in early 2002, they had already climbed very high very fast in the world of Barbershop choral singing. Two medals, bronze and silver, were earned in the group's first three years of participating in the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Chorus Competition. Now in the autumn of 2005, the Northern Lights have completed five consecutive years with International Silver medals, and have won fans around the world with their clean sound, their musicality and their often unconventional staging. Members come and go, but the group maintains a fairly constant size; there are about 40-50 voices in this "Little Chorus That Could." Although based in Toronto, Canada, the group draws members from a wide area; some of them travel several hours to attend each weekly rehearsal.

This recording showcases the breadth of the Northern Lights songbook; a range from operatic to alternative, with a healthy dose of classic barbershop, written from the early 1900s right up to the present day. (44:21 2006) (Description taken from the CD's liner notes.)
