Alfred S. Burt wrote some marvelous carols during his all too brief life as a songwriter in the 1940s and '50s. This enjoyable a cappella performance of 15 songs was recorded in 1963, but the vocal jazz sound is timeless. "The carols of Alfred Burt sung exactly as they were written. They have a timeless beauty and simplicity that makes them modern day Christmas classics. Selections like "Some Children See Him" and "Caroling, Caroling" are now part of the Christmas Carol tradition. I love Christmas music and have a large collection, but this CD is at the top of the list of favorites. If you are not familiar with the work of Alfred Burt or his story, I would recommend this CD."
